Financial Controller

Southend-on-Sea, Essex

The successful candidate will be responsible for the consolidation of the monthly Management Accounts and Management Information for all Group companies, together with the presentation of financial results and key performance indicators to the CEO and senior leadership team. They will manage and report on the Group's cash flow, budgets and forecasts, providing commercial insight to support strategic decision-making.

In addition, the Financial Controller will oversee all aspects of property management accounting, ensuring the accurate accounting of service charge funds, client monies, reserve funds and property-related transactions.

They will contribute to organisational improvement by gathering and analysing data, preparing reports, reviewing company performance, and recommending process improvements throughout the reporting process.

Your responsibilities will include:

Financial Management

  • Ensure timely and accurate production of monthly Management Accounts and Management information for Group Companies for presentation to the CEO
  • Assisting the Chief Financial Officer to prepare budgets and cashflow forecasting
  • Ensuring reporting requirements are met, on time and to a high standard
  • Ensure completion and filing of all quarterly VAT returns
  • Undertake Year End procedures and prepare and collate Year End files for external accountants
  • Liaise with external accountants regarding Group matters and queries arising
  • Ensure all Corporate fees are raised correctly and paid on a timely basis
  • Responsible for gathering and maintaining a wide array of data-related processes and system generated reports.
  • Analysing and interpreting said data ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness for the completion of the written monthly business report
  • Liaising actively with all departments throughout the company to ensure reporting information is fed back on a timely basis and understood by all users
  • The provision of training to users of the reporting information to ensure reports are comprehensible and action points easily communicated
  • The day to day running of the Corporate team ensuring adequate cover of tasks, training needs identified and addressed, and deadlines met.
  • Other analysis and reporting as required by business needs

Property Management Accounting

  • Oversee accounting for multiple property management companies and client bank accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with RICS Client Money Protection requirements.
  • Review service charge accounting and annual service charge reconciliations.
  • Monitor reserve fund accounting.
  • Ensure accurate recording of landlord and tenant transactions.
  • Oversee leasehold accounting where applicable.
  • Review client accounting procedures and controls.
  • Monitor trust and designated client bank accounts.

Job location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Annual leave: 23 days plus bank holidays

Carpet Cleaner and Jet Washing Technician

Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

Carpet Cleaning Duties:

  • Deep cleaning carpets using professional extraction equipment
  • Treating stains, high traffic areas, and odour affected zones
  • Applying appropriate cleaning chemicals safely and effectively
  • Conducting preclean inspections and identifying areas requiring specialist treatment
  • Ensuring carpets are left clean, fresh, and presentable for residents and clients

Jet Washing Duties:

  • Jet washing external surfaces including patios, pathways, car parks, bin stores, and building entrances
  • Removing moss, algae, grime, and surface build up
  • Operating high pressure equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ensuring all areas are left clean, safe, and visually improved

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Basic maintenance checks on equipment
  • Reporting faults, hazards, or site issues promptly
  • Completing job sheets and maintaining accurate records
  • Following health and safety procedures at all times
  • Providing excellent customer service to residents, clients, and site teams
  • Occasionally provide general communal cleaning cover, including hoovering, dusting, polishing, wiping down surfaces and sweeping.

The Job

As a Fire Door Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring fire doors across a variety of sites nationwide meet the highest safety standards. You will:

Conduct inspections

Perform thorough visual assessments of communal and private fire doors, door sets, frames, and associated hardware this includes verifying compliance, testing functionality and reviewing certification of the door.

Generate reports

Document all findings, non-compliance issues, and potential hazards in detailed reports, including photographic evidence and recommendations for corrective actions.

Communication

Liaise with the administration team to ensure customer appointments and targets are met.

You will collaborate with a skilled and experienced team, leveraging your expertise in residential block management to oversee a portfolio of properties and deliver outstanding client service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively managing a diverse portfolio of apartment blocks
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to clients and residents, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and professionally
  • Organising and attending client and resident meetings regularly, including Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Directors’ meetings
  • Liaising with customers and clients to ensure high service standards

  • Preparing and managing budgets, ensuring timely service charge collection and accurate financial reporting

The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years’ experience in property management and possess a full, clean driving license to facilitate regular travel for client and resident meetings. The ideal candidate:

  • Holds an ATPI or equivalent qualification
